WaterWipes Review

We were given the chance to review some WaterWipes. We jumped at the chance, the offer could not of come at a better time, our little boy Baby L had a horrible nappy rash from some wipes we picked up the previous week which did not seem to be clearing very fast, he also had a rash on his face where we had been wiping him down after dinner with the same wipes.

The WaterWipes are completely natural and made with 99.9% of purified water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract leaving babies skin free from potential irritants, they were specifically designed for newborn baby skin and are the only wipe to be endorsed by Allergy UK and Eczema Association of America.

Here is a little bit about the Water Wipes which is copy and pasted from their trusted website.

WaterWipes has been developed by Irish Breeze, a manufacturer of high quality skin and baby care products.  CEO of Irish Breeze, Edward McCloskey first started work on WaterWipes when his newborn daughter developed severe nappy rash.  He explained: “When our first daughter was born she suffered with sensitive skin and developed extremely bad nappy rash. I wanted to find out why, so I took a look at the ingredients in the baby wipes we were using. I was quite shocked to see just how many chemicals were in these wipes, and questioned should we be putting them on new-born, delicate skin?  I thought there had to be a better way and set about creating a better, natural and chemical-free alternative.  Many years later, and after a lot of hard work, testing and scientific research WaterWipes were born.”

We found these wipes to be amazing! Baby L’s bottom and face cleared up within just two days, he no longer has any rash on his bottom or on his face and his skin is totally clear, the wipes have no horrible smells to them as they are all natural and they are not thin so they do not fall apart when being used, they are good quality wipes. The only thing is that baby L did not like how wet and cold they were, as they are 99.9% purified water they are very wet and cold and he cried every time he needed to have his nappy changed, bless him, he has not yet got used to how wet/cold they are but I am sure it will come. The WaterWipes retail at £2.49 a packet and can be found at Boots, Amazon.co.uk, Ocado.co.uk, and major supermarkets like Tesco.

Here are a few extra tips on caring for baby’s skin during winter provided by Michelle Comrie midwife at Southampton Princess Anne Hospital.

  1. When bathing your baby, ensure the temperature of the room is warm to begin with and avoid hot baths as they can dry your baby’s skin. Try and limit them to five to 10 minutes
  2. Be generous when moisturizing your baby using a hypo-allergenic emollient to maintain and protect the natural skin barrier. Coconut oil has also been shown to be an effective natural moisturiser with emollient properties*
  3. Between bathing, remember to regularly clean baby dribble or spit up from their neck area and keep this area dry to avoid ‘dribble rash’. Opt for a chemical free baby wipe, such as WaterWipes, made from purified water and grapefruit seed extract, which is renowned for being a natural skin conditioner.
  4. Your baby is also much more likely to suffer from dry, chapped lips or sore cheeks as their skin is thinner. Try rubbing a small amount of coconut oil on the baby’s face and lips before going outdoors and try and limit the time they spend outdoors when it’s especially cold.
